Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution and Sonic Heroes released on European PlayStation 3 digital store

February 25, 2012

Come at me, Evo

The PlayStation 2 versions of Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution and Sonic Heroes have been released to the European Sony Entertainment Network (previously known as the PlayStation Network) for download on the PlayStation 3. Both are 9.99 EUR and are featured under the “PlayStation 2 Classics” section of the store.

Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution is strongly considered one of the best fighting games of all time, whereas the PlayStation 2 port of Sonic Heroes is considered the worst version of the game. It is unknown when or if these will be released to other regions on the PlayStation 3’s online store, but more releases from SEGA’s catalog of PlayStation 2 games should be expected.

Sonic 4 Episode II screenshots leak

February 14, 2012

A member of the Sonic Retro forums found that several Sonic 4 Episode II screenshots leaked on the Xbox Live Marketplace. These screenshots depict what appears to be cooperative gameplay with Sonic and Tails. Two of the zones are reminiscent of Sonic 2’s Aquatic Ruin – along with Sonic 3‘s Marble Garden motives – and Oil Ocean. The other two are a carnival and a ice/water themed level. Sonic 2’s special stage also makes a return. In some of the screenshots what appears to be Little Planet from Sonic CD can also be seen, which confirms that the story of Episode II will be linked to CD’s plot.

Additionally, the Xbox Live Marketplace revealed that the title will support local and online co-operative gameplay, something the franchise has lacked this entire console generation. All of this information has been pulled from the Xbox Live Marketplace since. It was previously confirmed by SEGA PR Ken Balough that Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode II will feature a new physics engine.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II detailed

December 29, 2011

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II has been revealed over a year after the original episode’s release. This upcoming downloadable sequel will be designed with similar methods to the 2D Genesis/Mega Drive games instead of the more modern 2D handheld Sonic games on the Nintendo DS or Sony PlayStation Portable.

Detailed with the reveal of the title is that Metal Sonic and Sonic’s sidekick Tails will both be included in the game. Along with this SEGA has stressed that the gameplay and graphics engine are improved greatly over the original episode, something a large majority of the fans were very vocal on being disappointed with on Sonic the Hedghehog 4: Episode I.

Another major announcement is that it will be arriving sometime in 2012 to the Xbox Live Arcade service on Xbox 360, PlayStation Network on PlayStation 3, iOS, Android and other various mobile platforms. It is notable that this will not have a WiiWare release on the Wii console, although other platforms are likely, nothing is being discussed at this time.

After the break is the teaser trailer that was released exclusively through GameSpot.

SEGA Tribute – Don’t Stop Me Now

March 5, 2011

segatribute

I made this video back in 2007 or so, when I was first learning how to use video editing tools, and that is a little more than obvious. However, I feel my passion for the company and their games is very apparent and overrides most major complaints I have with it. I put a lot of love into this for no real reason other than a thank you to the thousands – Perhaps millions of great games SEGA has made that so much of us all over the world have loved through the years.

The song is “Don’t Stop Me Now” by the band Queen. After the jump is the list of games included in the video, along with the format they were recorded on in their correct order.
